28 September 2008 - Trend get highly visual in Mullingar

Louis Barry showing the improvements made for fast changeovers

High level visual control and poka-yoke devices at the SMED preparation section

Louis gives a demonstration on how it impossible to use the wrong bolts (metric v's imperial) during changeovers.

For a trainer it is very satisfying to see theory put into practice, especially when Poka-Yoke (mistake proofing) devises are used. Coupled with the poka-yoke devises in Trend is the Massive communications board now evident on the plant floor.

The communications team have made tremendous effort over the past few months to share information through all levels of the company. At a practical level, the visual controls and poka-yoke devices are now have a very positive effect on reducing changeover times. The SMED team have also developed high levels of 5S organisation, evident on the photos attached.

Well done to all at the plant, a world-class effort.
